WHAT IS THE INTEGRATION ?
-
The Integration Dojo was founded by Matt Husino in 2026. It brings together traditional Japanese Martial Arts and the Enneagram to create a clear, embodied path for personal development.
Through years of rigorous training and deep psychological work, Matt began to see recurring patterns between two worlds: Martial Arts and the Enneagram. Each world offered valuable frameworks for growth, with its own truths, language and symbolic maps.
The Integration Dojo is where these worlds meet— uniting physical training, self-understanding, emotional development, trauma awareness, and practical self-defense into one path toward greater wholeness.
Martial arts. Enneagram. Integration. The goal is not only to teach people how to fight.
The goal is to equip people with tools to understand themselves, inhabit their body, regulate their emotions, develop confidence, and live with greater clarity, strength, and purpose.
The Integration Dojo exists for people who want more than technique. It is for people who want transformation.
-
The Integration was born from lived experience.
Matt did not come to martial arts as a hobby, but through survival.
After growing up through trauma, instability, homelessness, and deep personal struggle, martial arts became a way back into strength, discipline, confidence, and purpose.
At one of the lowest points in his life, Matt was introduced to martial arts and psychology by a man who helped him see a new future. From that moment, he formed a clear vision:
Master martial arts.
Study the human mind.
Break destructive family patterns.
Help others become whole.
That vision eventually became The Integration.
For years, Matt trained intensely in traditional Japanese
Martial Arts. He gave himself fully to the dojo, teaching classes, mentoring students, and pursuing mastery.Martial arts gave him structure.
Martial arts gave him confidence.
Martial arts gave him his body back.
But over time, Matt realized something important:
Martial arts alone was not the full answer.
A person can become physically skilled and still be emotionally wounded.
A person can earn rank and still not understand their trauma.
A person can learn self-defense and still not know how to relate, communicate, trust, grieve, lead, or love.
Matt began studying psychology, personality, trauma, the Enneagram, Tritype®, Instincts, Spiral Dynamics, Core Energetics, MBTI, leadership, communication, and human development.
That began to complete the missing pieces.
Martial arts helped develop the body.
Psychology helped clarify the mind.
The Integration helped open the heart.
The Integration emerged from the union of these three dimensions.

Matt Husino is a martial artist, teacher, founder of The Integration Dojo, and creator of The Integration— the nine-level system that unites Martial Arts, the Enneagram and Personal Development.
His path has been shaped by adversity, discipline, deep study, and transformation.
Matt began martial arts as a young boy through Karate, but his serious training began in his early 20s when he entered a traditional Japanese martial arts school in Concord, California.
From approximately 2010 to 2017, Matt trained with extreme intensity, often 30 to 40 hours per week. During that time, he became a senior instructor, taught children, juniors, and adults, completed intensive instructor training, and earned advanced rank in multiple martial arts systems.
His primary martial arts credentials include:
Seibukan Jujutsu: 7th degree black belt
Enshin Itto Ryu Battojutsu: 4th degree black belt
Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu: 3rd degree black belt
Matt has studied under Julio Toribio in Seibukan Jujutsu and Battojutsu, and under Ninjutsu grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi through the Bujinkan tradition.
After leaving full-time dojo life, Matt entered the world of business, sales, leadership, communication, and personal development. He had thousands of real-world conversations, studied human behavior deeply, read extensively, built leadership experience, and continued searching for the deeper principles behind transformation.
That journey eventually led him back to teaching.
The Integration brings together Matt’s martial-arts training, psychological study, leadership experience, healing work, and lived experience into one system.

The Integration is rooted in martial arts as a path of discipline, embodiment, awareness and self-mastery. It draws from traditional foundations as well as modern training methods and additional systems that deepen practical skill, adaptability, and real-world applications.
Rather than belonging to only one narrow expression of martial arts, The Integration honors the wisdom of lineage while recognizing that growth often requires cross-training, refinement, and direct experience. The martial side of the system teaches presence under pressure, and Gut-level intelligence with the ability to act with clarity and purpose.

The Integration is deeply informed by the Enneagram, including Core Type, Subtypes, Tritypes®, Instinctual Patterns, and the movement toward wholeness. Matt encountered Tritype® and Katherine Chernick Fauvre’s work in 2024 and quickly felt drawn by the depth and breadth of her years of research and knowledge. Matt studied Katherine’s systems deeply and immediately began drawing correlations between the types and how they move in the physical world and in combat. He saw their natural gifts in movement and where they got stuck. From this work, The Integration began to take shape. For more on the Enneagram Lineage click here.

The Integration is built on one core belief:
The system should serve the human being.
Tradition matters. Technique matters. Discipline matters. Lineage matters.
But none of those should come before the person.
Many people come to martial arts carrying fear, trauma, insecurity, anger, shame, disconnection, or a deep desire to become stronger. The Integration meets the student as a whole human being, not just as a body to be trained or a rank to be advanced.
The goal is not to create blind loyalty to a system.
The goal is to help each student become more alive, self-aware, capable, grounded, and free.
The Integration trains the body.
It clarifies the mind.
It strengthens the heart.
It develops instinct.
It builds character.
It helps people become whole.
-
The Integration is not just about learning techniques.
It is about becoming the kind of person who can move through life with strength, awareness, courage, humility, and purpose.
Come train with us.
Learn how to move.
Learn how to understand yourself.
Learn how to become stronger, clearer, and more whole.
